I just gave to my alma mater, the U. of V., in equal sums to the Department of History, the University Art Museum, and the Virginia Athletics Foundation.

The total donation probably wasn’t enough to make a real impact on the University, but I’m sure it was enough to guarantee that I’ll receive requests for money for the rest of my life.

That’s ok. I’m cheap, and I know it, but somehow giving to the University doesn’t seem like a waste.

There’s nothing crueler than pulling a television show mid-season. It seems that Studio 60 is now gone forever, which makes me upset. At least The Black Donnellys doesn’t suck. Actually, it’s pretty good.

In other news, I’ve reached that point in the semester where it becomes an every day struggle just to care.

Emily and I signed a lease last week, so it’s official: we’ll be in Alabama for at least one more year. What exactly I’ll be doing during that year still remains to be seen, but our address will be the same.

I might be teaching at a private school here while finishing up my degree part-time. Or I might be finishing up my degree full-time until December, and then spend 6-8 months wasting time. Or I might be finishing up my degree full-time until next May. Who knows? Anyway, your address books are safe from at least one ugly scratch-out for one more year.

In other news, I have been–in the words of Pink–a hazard to myself lately. In the span of one week I managed to bite my tongue and my lip, making both bleed (basketball), get a splinter under my fingernail (Habitat for Humanity), and slice my thumb openĀ  with a large knife (Valentine’s dinner). All I have to say is, “Don’t let me get me.”

Next Thursday, I’m going to see Robert Randolph & the Family Band here in town. I am excited.

I got new glasses. Let me know what you think of them.

Some of you may not like my new look. I’m not sure Emily does. But I don’t wear my glasses that often, so really, it’s not that big of a deal. But, here’s the kicker: they cost me $13.90 online. That’s not insurance co-pay or anything; that’s the price. The internet is a powerful thing.
